An absolutely brilliant fic that examines the gradual changes that can occur when Shinji finds himself in a time loop. I really enjoyed the fact that at first Shinji is just as confused and unsure as anyone else would be in this situation, and only gradually starts to make changes. Even then, he does not turn into a chessmaster, remaining true to the character. The main pairing is Shinji/Rei, but unlike many fics it does villainize Asuka, and does an excellent job showing the growth of their friendship throughout multiple resets, including the slightly unhinged attitudes and neurosis that they begin to adopt. Truly unique in the realm of Peggy Sue fics in that it is not really a fix fic, as opposed to one that explores the logical consequences of living through so many lives. In many ways the children become old souls in young bodies, and it becomes reflected in their personalities and relationships. Veers off a bit toward the end, but overall well worth a read.
